Q: It’s been 7 months since The Marquee faced a total loss of the under construction “Cedar” apartment building. How is the rebuild coming along?

A: Our construction team is doing a fantastic job with the rebuild that officially started in the beginning of July. We are currently in the framing phase of the build and looking forward to seeing the project come to fruition. Our team’s motto has been “The Show Goes On!” from the beginning – the fire was a setback, but we have persevered with positive attitudes and really can’t thank the community of Cleveland Heights enough for their ongoing support and patience.

Q: The “Lee” building was unimpacted by the fire. Has this building had success in being leased? How has the resident experience changed?

A: The Lee/Meadowbrook building has filled up fast. We think this is a testament to the quality of our apartment homes and the growing excitement around living in Cleveland Heights. We are convenient to so many wonderful businesses – entertainment, dining, shopping – it really enhances the living experience. While we were looking forward to the amenity spaces that the Cedar building was expected to bring before the fire, residents have been minimally impacted due to us offering amenity usage at our sister property, The Ascent. We have also introduced movie nights in recent months – it’s been a lot of fun to gather residents and enjoy the Courtyard of the Lee building with snacks and drinks while the weather still allows it!  From partnering with local businesses and promoting neighborhood engagement, we have really felt a wonderful sense of “togetherness” in this building – it feels like home.

Q: Tell us about the vision for the Cedar building. Is it following the same plan as the original build?

A: The Cedar building will follow the same plan as the original build. It will bring an in-ground pool, luxury fitness center, indoor common area with complimentary coffee, and so much more to The Marquee. We really look forward to seeing it’s completion and welcoming even more residents to The Marquee.

Q: Has the community seen any impact from the opening of the apartment building on Lee Road?

A: Our Lee Street building has 67 apartments, and we’re hoping the local businesses have felt an influx of foot traffic from welcoming so many new residents in recent months. That momentum will only grow with the completion of the Cedar building! In addition, we’ve made an effort to be present in the community with partnership programs and sponsorships. We place a lot of value in community connection.

Q:When do you anticipate the completion of the Cedar building?

A: Current ETA for completion of Cedar is end of Q4 2026.

The Show Goes On: Moving Forward from The Fire

The Marquee at Cedar Lee was developed through the belief that our community is more than just a place to live – it’s a vibrant, thriving space where life is celebrated, dreams are pursued, and stories unfold. We drew inspiration for our name from our neighborhood’s rich history embracing theater and the arts. A marquee is a sign adorning the front of a theater, illuminating the excitement within.

Recently, we faced a challenging setback, but much like the resilience of the theater itself, we’re determined to rise, rebuild, and move forward stronger than ever while illuminating the community of Cleveland Heights.

A Setback, Not the Final Act

As many of you know, one of our buildings was tragically affected by a fire. The Cedar building, which was still under construction, has sustained damage that will require it to be torn down and rebuilt. While the process of rebuilding will take time, we’re committed to seeing it through. Just as a theater production may face setbacks, the show must go on – and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

The First Act: Ready to Rent

We’re excited to share that The Lee building, which has already finished construction, is ready to welcome new residents. These beautiful apartments offer a unique blend of modern luxury and artistic flair, inspired by the rich cultural history of our neighborhood. With an emphasis on sophisticated design, community, and the spirit of creativity, The Marquee at Cedar Lee offers a place to call home that honors the legacy of theater in our community.

In any great production, there are two acts. We’d like to think of this building as the first act.

The Second Act: Rebuilding and Renewing

Though the road ahead may seem long, we’re determined to rebuild The Cedar building and transform it into something even more spectacular than before. The Marquee will continue to be a place where community members can thrive and create new stories. We’re looking forward to the day when we can unveil the newly rebuilt space and welcome even more residents into this vibrant community. We are excited to create a space and a story that inspires.
